Our school community is committed to providing quality education
which endeavours to prepare children for the future in a caring, supportive Christian environment.

Parental Involvement

Our belief is that parents are the most natural and the most influential teachers children and therefore we realize that the school’s aims can only be achieved if parents are aware of and actively involved in programs and activities. A wide range of formal and informal opportunities exist for this to happen, developing a strong sense of community at St John’s.

Ways in which parents can be involved include:-

·

Be an active member of the Parents & Friends Association
·        Help in the classroom as arranged with the teacher e.g. group Maths and English work.
·
        Assist with sporting events
·

Help with swimming program
·        Working bees
·

·        Concert
·        Graduation Service

·

Carols by Candlelight
·        Help with Bookweek Activity Day
·        Children’s youth group
·

Parents and Friends Association:- The P&F also play an active role in raising funds and providing an avenue for fellowship e.g. Catering, P&F Family BBQ and Children’s Disco.

School Evaluation Report
The following data from the 2008 School Evaluation is presented for your information.
Themes of affirmation that were heart warming and greatly appreciated were parent responses to our staff and all they do to ensure that St John’s provides a caring and supportive environment and issues of their pastoral care are of high priority. It is heartening to know that our parent community also recognizes the focus of our Christian Worship program and the values that underpin our school ethos.

The comparison of the 2008 evaluation data to the survey data gathered in 2006 has been compiled into a comparable ten point scale. - see the table below. We are pleased to see that the improvements that we put in place after the last survey have been noted by stakeholders and that our average scores have improved.
Whilst particular evaluation forms may have raised individual areas of concern, and these will be considered and processed over time, as a community there appear to still be some areas that need further focus. These areas include further development of the Extension program, sporting opportunities and continued commitment to Learning Support and all areas of the Arts. We will endeavour to focus on these areas as priority areas when we prepare the 2009 budget, as well as maintain the high level of support to other areas to which we are already committed.
